So this early recording, his first actual album, will come as a surprise to those devoted to the loop-heavy percussion that is Lekebusch 's stock and trade. While the Harthouse label posts a warning of trance silliness (especially a release dated this late), this is actually a jackin' acid affair. Tracks like "Deprograming" and "Virgin Mind" trade on the dark Euro-rave tricks of wicked sound effects and wet acid synths that sounded fresh once. "Virus" does the same, but with a funky breakbeat, while "DD 66" makes the most of the mandatory "listening techno" excursion. This CD is an unexpected moment that is thoroughly caught in early-'90s techno. It is not bad by those standards, but is probably something that Lekebusch 's current work would prefer that you forget.
