Since the 80s Davol has created lush electronic soundscapes on his albums. The style began as “new age” and has evolved into a type of contemporary instrumental electronic pop. Multilayered and original, the compositions speak for themselves, always heartfelt, often joyful and exhilarating. This new project, “Truth”, is quite a detour for Davol. Contemplating the state of our nation, he felt compelled to create something politically-minded. The video, which is freely available online (DavolMusic.com, YouTube, etc), was created hand in hand with the music. Images from the last century are juxtaposed in such a way with each other and the music that the viewer is forced to ask questions, to feel rage, despair, and rethink priorities. Has the information that the public has received about important world events always been truthful? What is the truth? How do we evaluate media messages? What are the consequences of our decision-making based on our understanding of these so-called truths? Many questions. But it is left to the viewer to draw their own conclusions. The music of “Truth” is considerably more high energy and hard-hitting than previous Davol releases, but the signature style is always there. Hold on to your hats for this journey.
