Lost & Found
Rumelia is a group of three women putting a new spin on music from Eastern Europe, a region generally known as the Balkans. A project of love, the women of Rumelia are delighted to share their arrangements of traditional and contemporary folk tunes of the Balkans. A concept album, "Lost and Found" tells stories of love, both lost and found; The anguish of thirsting after someone after they have left, the wonder of new found love, a mother's love for her child, love for one's family, waiting for love to arrive, and the love of a dear friend. The tracks on the album originate from Hungary (of the Roma people), Macedonia, Albania, Greece, Georgia, Armenia, and Serbia. The last track, "Ramo, Ramo" is said to have originated in India, where Roma people trace their history. Vocal and instrumental harmonies abound, making for a rich and unique listening experience while maintaining the simplicity and accessibility of folk music. Many of the songs have traditional folk dances that are popular with International Folk Dance communities. What people are saying: "Just listened to"Lost & Found ... this is an astoundingly good album," Matthew Finch, Music Director, KUNM Radio, Albuquerque NM "Your CD sounds great, very precise and full of Balkan energy, art, soul, and emotion!"
