Jennifer Pe?a delivers on the promise of her 1996 debut album with this spirited sophomore effort that blends lilting cumbia rhythms and pop classics. Backed by her polished band, Los Jetz, Pe?a sounds confident and focused on clever cumbia versions of the girl group and soul classics "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?" and "Just One Look." Pe?a even manages a heated dance/rock version of Rick James's "Super Freak" featuring a guitar solo by Chris Perez. It's clear that Pe?a is being prepped for international markets, but she is equally effective on the more traditional Tejano tunes "Solo Por Ti," "Que Paso," and "Si No Me Quieres, Dimelo." It's the same double musical life that, sadly, her role model Selena never had the chance to fully enjoy.
