Brandon Gaesser, 24, studied piano and composition at the University of Miami's Frost Music School before heading to Nashville, where he earned a BS in Songwriting and Music Business from the Mike Curb School at Belmont University in 2011. He has been playing piano for nearly 20 years, first building a disciplined foundation in classical music. But while he was practicing pieces by the likes of Beethoven, he spent most of his grade school bus rides listening to the likes of Billy Joel. While never forgetting the techniques of his classical training, he gradually began trading in classical music books for anthologies of "Baby Boomer" rock 'n' roll. He has often professed the enormous similarities between the chord progressions of classical composers such as Bach and those of classic rock artists like Elton John. "All that is different are the melodies that connect those chords, and all of them are equally memorable." Brandon Gaesser decries the music of his millennial generation, instead using influences from other generations in creating his own versatile melodies to connect those same chords.
