2012斯图加特版《Rebecca》的现场录音～ 4.0 out of 5 stars The More Satisfying Cast Recording by Nanders (March 31, 2013) The Original 2006 Vienna Production's Live Recording (2007) also has (nearly) the entire show recorded live on its red-covered Gesamtaufnahme. That original production was packed with some mighty vocals, which was coupled with broad expressive strokes, pop sounds, affected dialogue and song interpretations. "Showmanship." The same creative team (except the choreographer) was assembled for the 2011 remount in Stuttgart. Some changes were made not only to the structure of the show, but also to the tone- the voices are more "legit," their expressiveness more conversational and subtle. The same can be said for the dialogue. This recording captures that essence. For example: Pia Douwes' interpretation of sympathetic antagonist Mrs. Danvers is a breath of ease and humility in the role which was originated by power-voiced (but less subtle) Susan Rigvava-Dumas. The arch in her (and all other characters' stories) is far more clear, concise, and effective here. However, this musical's structure sometimes lags behind being what it purported itself to be. It often spends too much time explaining exposition or stating shifts in characters with broad strokes rather than exciting, active, reflective scenes (for example: the Second Mrs. De Winter's fear of Rebecca and her eventual growth into a blooming woman are confined to very short, rather perfunctory ballads). However, I believe this to be a rather important item for a musical theatre aficionado to absorb its many impactful moments and wonderful performances.
