Mike Clifford perhaps best known for his massive hit " I'm so close to Cathy" which sold Millions of records world wide has teamed up with the dynamic, swinging 38 piece PTPOPS lead by gold recording artist, Drummer and Producer Paul Turner, to produce and put their own spin on the widely popular classic "Mack the Knife". Mike Clifford in addition to one of his vocal hits "Close to Cathy" was featured on numerous occasions on the Ed Sullivan Show and a huge hit on the touring Dick Clark Show. Many of Mikes "singles" were released and charted in the Top 10 in many countries around the world. Still today many Major Recording labels world wide are re- releasing Mikes original recordings as apart of compilation Albums. Mike mostly lives in Los Angeles, California and is still busy recording, writing and performing live in every genera of the Industry from Live to radio to T.V. The PT Pops with three Albums and a single with their version of Mack the Knife with Mike Clifford under it's belt is lead by UK born drummer, Paul Turner. Naturally gifted at the young age of four, Paul made his first solo performance at a night club in Surrey, England. With perseverance and direction, Paul became the youngest person in history to form and successfully lead a big band at age 14. The following years were marked with success for Paul, performing at hundreds of venues across the UK and Europe. It was in 1986, in a jammed packed venue in Brighton England, that he had his first big break. BBC producer Peter Estall and his production staff paid a visit and saw The Paul Turner Big Band, and immediately booked him on the highly successful Wogan Show, hosted by Terry Wogan. A record 13 million viewed the live show that day, and Estall was so pleased with their performance that the band was called back in as part of a tribute to the legendary Jimmy Stewart, who played Glenn Miller in The Glenn Miller movie. Paul’s successes in the UK sparked his dream of starting a big band in Hollywood, California, and at age 21 with drive and determination he made his way to the USA. Paul did not waste any time before he had his big band up and running with an all American lineup. Within a year the Paul Turner Big Band was playing venues including the world famous Derby, Tattoo, and Sky Bar on Sunset, along with a wide array of corporate events, private parties and music industry shows. Additionally the Paul Turner Big band had the privilege to open for big names such as, Tony Bennett, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, and backing Jack Jones and Phantom of the Opera star, Robert Guiallme. It was at the hip and sophisticated Beverly Hills Hotel Nikko that the Paul Turner Big Band received the honor of performing for Charlton and Lydia Heston’s 50th wedding anniversary backing the legendary Mel Tormé.
